Applications are now closed for the 2023 workshop

The Midlands Suzuki International Summer Workshop is a 4-day non-residential music course open to all Suzuki violin and viola students, Suzuki ECE families, and teacher observers. We welcome students from all over the world and have a faculty of internationally renowned teachers.

Teacher observers can still apply here!

About The Event

Every child is timetabled for 6 teaching sessions each day. Classes start at 9.00 am and finish by 4.00 pm. Children are allocated groups appropriate for their current age and level, including tonalisation, masterclasses, group lessons, playtogethers, performances, and access to creative activities and park facilities outside lesson time.

The mini workshop option is open to under 5s who are pre-twinkle or in book 1 and will run between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm each day. Mini workshop participants will be timetabled for 3 sessions each day.

There will be a Suzuki ECE family music class every day of the workshop for 0-4 year olds accompanied by a caregiver. This workshop class is free of charge, but it is essential to apply as places are limited.

Inspirational talks will be given each afternoon for caregivers. There will also be the chance for grown-ups to play along in larger playtogethers, and opportunities for informal music-making together, so if you’d like, do bring your instrument with you!

Teacher observers are welcome to attend the workshop – apply here.

MSISW is a non-residential workshop so you will need to arrange your own accommodation.

We would love to arrange home-stays for visiting Suzuki families – if you have space to accommodate a couple of extra people during the workshop, or would like to stay with a local Suzuki family, please let us know on your application form.

There are lots of other accommodation options nearby as well.
